Oh, my kids...

So this morning when Tyler and Riley got up, they went to the living room as usual. They never think I listen to them when they are talking but I do. lol This morning they turned on the tv and switched on the news. They like to watch the weather channel. Then all of a sudden I hear two little almost 8 year old voices discussing some company making so many millions of dollars. Then I hear from Riley, I think, "That's just ridiculous. I mean, that's more money than I will be able to make in a lifetime." Followed by Tyler's response "I know. How insane is that? We will have to work hard and put all of our money together and we still might now be able to make that much in our life. I think we can figure it out though. Right?" And then Riley says "oh yeah, we can make way more than that if we work together and then we can take over the whole world with our money"

I was cracking up! Then I listened to them talk about the weather a little bit which was just as funny. Tyler "well the week is a waste but the weekend shouldn't be completely horrible." Riley "cloudy on Saturday. Yeah, we can work with that." ... lol

Then I hear Riley say "I am so mad at mom. She ate some of my Kit-Kat bar." I then decided to let them know I was awake. lol I didn't eat any of his candy! lol But it was a big deal to a 7 year old who just got done discussing business finance, his plans to take over the world, and the weather! lol

Failing

So it's been three weeks. I've lost nothing. I am celebrating my non-scale victories though. My clothes are starting to fit better and I have more energy now. That makes me happy. I just wish I could see a change in pound form. Oh well. I just have to keep pushing for it.

Went to Eternal with CB and Alyssa yesterday. Watched them both get tattoos. Had some lunch after and then spent the rest of the day hanging with my favorite guy. I am so thankful for him. He just has a way of calming me down and making me think about things in a different way. Making me think of myself in a different way... a better way.

Hopefully next week will be better than the past week. :)

Finding Me

I've finally decided it's time to do something about how I feel about myself. There's been an exceptionally long period of time that I've been ridiculously disgusted with my body. I've been working so hard on developing and getting to know who I am on the inside that I've completely ignored how I look on the outside. It's about time the two sides met up. Now I've been paying much closer attention to how and what I have been eating or drinking for a few months now but nothing too specific. By simply lowering the amount of pop I drink each day and the amount of junk I eat I have lost 22 pounds. But I yo-yo with my weight. Flexing up and down by about 5 pounds. I don't want to do that anymore.

I joined LA Fitness before my surgery and then things sort of spiralled in the health department before then. I'm glad the surgery is done but I don't want to fall victim to the emotional eating and weight gain that a lot of women experience after a full hysterectomy.

It's time to go back to the gym. I am going to start off simple. Three mornings a week (Monday, Wednesday, Saturday) I will attend water aerobics. In addition to this I have ordered "Flirty Girl Fitness" - the work out DVD to do at home. It's supposed to drop 2 pant sizes in just 10 days. We're about to test that theory. I am going to take before pictures, though I don't think I'll post them here!! But if it really starts to work, I might. We'll see.

The diet - I'm not big on the word "diet". I like to eat what I want, when I want. I am pretty good about staying away from junk. It's not an issue for me to buy cookies or ice cream for the kids because I know I won't eat it. I can't cut starch out of my life because I'm just not strong enough to say NO to a baked potato, mashed potatos, or rice! I can admit that freely. I do think I'm strong enough to limit the amount of those things I eat. So that's my plan. I will eat a reasonable breakfast each morning. Something like a whole grain waffle, a yogurt, and some fruit. If I need a snack between breakfast and lunch I will stick with string cheese or a cottage cheese cup. Lunch will be made instead of bought each day. Turkey, ham, or chicken sandwiches on wheat bread along with some fresh veggies. I'll drink plenty of water all day long. Dinners are usually simple anyway. Once I'm back at work they'll be had there. Maybe lean cuisine or a salad from home. Can't wait to get the grill out again!

So, there it is. My plan of action to shape myself into the person I want to be.

Blogging will help my progress, I hope. :~)
